5 This is the promise I made[a] to you when you left Egypt. My Spirit remains in your midst. Do not be afraid!
6 Listen, this is what the Lord of Armies says. Once again, in a little while, I myself will shake the heavens and the earth, the seas and the dry land. 7 I will shake all the nations, and the desired of all the nations will come,[b] and I will fill this house with glory, says the Lord of Armies.

- Haggai 2:5 The verb is cut, which is the verb used for making a covenant, because the sacrificial animal used to establish the covenant was cut into pieces.
- Haggai 2:7 The title Desire of Nations has traditionally been understood as a title of Christ, the one desired by the nations, but the Hebrew verb come is plural, so this passage must refer to the people of the nations whom God desires to come to Christ with their gifts.
