  1. Haggai 2:5 The verb is cut, which is the verb used for making a covenant, because the sacrificial animal used to establish the covenant was cut into pieces.
  2. Haggai 2:7 The title Desire of Nations has traditionally been understood as a title of Christ, the one desired by the nations, but the Hebrew verb come is plural, so this passage must refer to the people of the nations whom God desires to come to Christ with their gifts.
